Matrix spaces are collections of rooms. This is the preferred way to join the chat.

Many of the rooms on this homeserver use a system where new users are muted until approved by the admin. The bot also automatically kicks matrix.org users without avatars. This is to cut down on various forms of spam.

Interlaced Insanity #main:dithered.space
This is the main room. Offtopic within reason is allowed, but tech-related topics are preferred. Practice common sense, and keep the discussion comfy.

Touhou #touhou:dithered.space
Room about the Touhou games, art, music and anything else related.
In this room, our bot sends a recycle emoji (♻️) as a reaction to images it detects as reposts.

A couple minor rooms not listed here are available in the matrix space.

Mar 27th 2025 - CVE-2025-30355
A federation denial of service 0-day was attempted on Dithered.space on 19th and 25th of March, of which latter was successful and caused a 18 hour database rollback. On the 26th, an update to Synapse fixed this exploit, however the main room, which had a 6 year run, had to be tombstoned and recreated.

Mar 24th 2025 - Off Cloudflare
Cloudflare constantly caused connection issues, so the server was taken off it. Due to how matrix protocol works, the real IP of the server was trivial to find anyway, so there was no benefit to using it whatsoever.
Secondary benefit is that your messages are no longer MITM'd by CF.

Oct 5th 2024 - Domain migration
In an effort to shorten and generalize the domain, interlaced-insanity.com is now dithered.space.
Homeserver is now using a hosting solution with significantly more storage space, among other improvements to the service.

May 16th 2023 - Dedicated homeserver!
Dedicated homeserver has finally been set-up. Room links and addresses have changed.
Homeserver is for now private - but if you absolutely want an account here, message @kosshi:interlaced-insanity.com.

May 10th 2023 - Increased security
Due to an incident, safeguards to prevent further abuse have been put in place in all rooms.
This is an ongoing effort. Automated abuse prevention systems are being developed.
As a temporary measure, NEW USERS are muted until manually unmuted. Be patient, you will gain access within 12 hours from joining.
